amanda...throws acorns with surprising accuracy

here it goes again

i just watched ok go! perform their treadmill routine on the mtv vma's. no screw ups. however, it really just wasn't as special as watching it on youtube for some reason. oh well, i still want to make out with the cute one in the pink pants.

it's my last night here in vancouver. and i'm glad for that in some ways. only here can i pass homeless people sleeping on the streets on the same block where there are bentleys and range rovers parked. i think that says something about our society. and no kidding. i walked home past a freaking bentley.

oh, and since lyn is the only other person i know who watches big brother, this opinion is for her: janelle should have put up will and boogie tonight and flipped the whole game upside down. dumbass kept them both in, and now she's so screwed. and i know you like that, but really. she could have seriously f*cked things up with that HOH!

strange chairman of the board of the day: shawn white.

policies

last night's rockstar was awesome! and now i'm watching tonights episode crossing my fingers that mr. canada lukas rossi is going to make it through to the next round. he got picked to sing with supernova tonight, so i'm thinking he's safe until next week at least.

how kick-ass would that be if two canadians in a row won the rockstar show? very kick as i say!

and today was a much better day than yesterday. it's amazing how quickly a 9-5 day flies by when you're busy and have no idea what the hell is going on. but it's amazing how incestuous the profession of pharmacy is. today i got a phone call from the brother of the girl i went to the aquarium with last weekend (who herself is a pharmacy resident with me) - he's a pharmacy student working at a store outside of vancouver. then, a pharmacist from terrace called - he was originally from PG, knows my pharmacy manager, and also knows the girl i went to the aquarium with last weekend. OH! and he's in this town called terrace. which just so happens to be the same town where this other pharmacist i met two weeks ago who is best friends with the girl i went to the aquarium with is doing relief work right now, at the other pharmacy in town...and the dude who called me knows who the dude i met two weeks ago is.

weird! and confusing. and i really don't care if it doesn't make sense...cause that's just how i roll.

my new favourite song in the world is 'policies' by mr. peter yorn. when i become famous for making movie soundtracks, that song will be in every movie.

what else to say? i love lamp.

nightcrawler

today, it was like my brain was on hiatus. it's like my body showed up for work, and my brain stayed in bed. everything i did had to be done twice, because i kept doing the wrong freaking thing.

but the fact that the new pete yorn cd came out today made my entire life better! the first disc in over two years. finally! and i'm so happy. i also bought the new death cab for cutie cd. so, i'm fully stocked up on pretentious music. well, not fully. but i'm more stocked up on pretentious music.

but what made me even happier than a new py cd? neil patrick harris on big brother! and the fact that will was so excited that nph was visiting made me even happier! i love nph!

oh, and i hope that danielle skank gets kicked out thursday. even though erica totally screwed herself over by putting danielle up....meh. boogie and will are hilarious.

now it's time to tuck in for an hour of rockstar supernova.

i heart tv on tuesdays!

say whaaaaaat?

if there is one thing mahatma gandhi stands for, it's revenge.

that's from clone high, a show which i have been watching way too much of lately for my own good. i think i've even gotten the ky successfully hooked on it. hooked on clone high more than she's hooked on phonics.

in other news, i'm such a giant loser that i'm sitting home alone on a monday night watching home improvement and basically waiting until it's not such an embarassingly early time to go to bed. it's 8:15 now...i'd say i've got an hour to go.

only four days left in the big city. i'm looking forward to heading back up north and being 'home' again. however, i'll miss being in a city where there is so much to do, so much beauty, and so many cute boys! but it will be nice to get back to my house, my car, and my tupperware.

how boring is it that i'm blogging about how i miss my tupperware? but i really do. it's so hard to keep things fresh without tupperware. and saran just doesn't do it for me - it's not reducable, reusable, or recyclable! okay, so i could reuse it. but really.

now i'm going to watch lame celebrity news coverage on cnn and fold my laundry. (isn't my life glamorous?)

oh, and did i mention how much i love that geico commercial with charo?

8.21.2006

it's true

i do see weird things. i wonder if these things happen to everyone, or if i seem to be prone to attracting total weirdos into my general vicinity.

for example yesterday, on my way to the biggest and most confusing mall ever. i took the skytrain. which, in itself isn't that strange. it s weird however, that one passenger yells, "I LOVE SPANISH! I love spanish! mi casa sous casa" at two other passengers who - gasp! - happen to be speaking spanish. it's even weirder that i heard a satisfying *crack* of a can opening and the smell of beer thrity seconds later from said yelling passenger. oh, that explains so much.

what's better though? how she strikes up a conversation with a newly arrived passenger regarding her red eyeglass frames. a conversation telling her how much she reminds her of jenny jones, "that host that wears her signature red glasses on every show..." i had to bite my tongue to keep from yelling SALLY JESSE RAPHAEL!! But then the conversation turned less awkward when she talked about her hunt for the perfect glasses, and how expensive eyeglasses are these days. thank goodness for my stop.

oh, and it turns out i am very good at spending money at the biggest and most confusing mall ever. four shirts and a pair of shoes later, i still have no new work shoes, and no new work shirts. i'm awesome. it's like i'm a procrastinator at school AND in shopping. like, i do things...but not work. and i buy things...just not the right ones.

oh well. i'm now rockin' some kickin' l.a.m.b. sneakers. i'd put a picture of them up, but apparently mac's are against giving me a link icon on my blogger screen. meh.

one more thing. i'm totally obsessed with big brother! i haven't watched that show since the first and second seasons which seemed like light years ago. but i started to watch it like 3 episodes ago, and now i can't stop! it's like a car accident i just can't turn away from. i think part of its appeal is that it's on three nights a week. which makes it much more appealing. (yes, i just said it's appeal makes it appealing)

let's add that to rockstar, and i've got 5 hours of tv per week between two shows. did i mention how much i freaking love rockstar!? i'm going to a mac cosmetics launch party tomorrow night (and mac is one of my huge loves) and i'm actually going to run home for 9 o'clock so i can watch rockstar. to pull me away from makeup and free hors d'oeurves you know it must be good.

enough for now.

lazy saturday

today, i am beyond lazy. i need to get my bottom in gear and get out of the house. i'm in this great city, and wasting my time not exploring it. although one could argue that saturday morning baths and reading books isn't exactly wasting time.

i awoke early this morning to the sounds of cars honking their horns and people cheering. which was so odd, i thought i was hearing things. then i looked down onto the street, and saw that there was some kind of walk going on, with people in crowds heading down the street with balloons attached to them. so it was still odd.

and speaking of odd, i had someone say to me yesterday, 'you always see the strangest things'. which is true. i saw a man shaving in his car while driving on the way to work this week. and then there was that hobo who stuck out his tongue at me while i was on the bus...this city is a goldmine for weird things for me to see. so i should get motivated and go out and see them.

perhaps after a quick catnap. doing nothing is hard.

warning: profanities ensue

i hope you stuck this out despite the warning. cause this is some good shit.

so i'll skip the preamble and cut to the chase.

who did i just see walking down motherfucking robson street?

BENICIO DEL MOTHER FUCKING TORO.

now that is one bitch ass star sighting.

pardon my french.

like deja vu all over again

hey team.

sorry for my lack of updates. but i've been doing things...and not feeling like posting was one of them. but alas, i'm sitting here on my bed, typing out a post that is sure to be more than fantastic. har har. not so much.

anyways, my life has been chaotic lately, just like britney and kevin. i have left home for a month, first stopping in the skatch for a wedding and some fam time, and now i'm in the big metropolis of vancouver, living the high life. and by high life, i mean pretty much going to school for a month. which isn't all bad, since i'm hanging out with other residents, living right downtown in a sweet studio apartment, and two blocks away from the best shopping in the city. so can i complain? not so much.

but today further solidified my hatred for public transportation. i have ranted on this topic in the past, but today's experience totally made me hit my limit. what's not fun? riding on a bus with a totally cracked out drug addict!! how do i know? i just did it!!
not only did i have to watch this lady be all crazy, but then some other crazy guy outside of the bus stuck his tongue out at me as we were driving by, as he pretended to throw whatever was in his hand at the bus. what a bunch of whack-jobs. i miss ottawa, where the only crazies were the french.

alas, the one good part of van is the hotties. it's like all the best looking boys in canada migrate here for the city's temperate climate and abundancy of starbucks. and the fact that it's warm and sunny ain't half bad either. i think it's time i take a walk down to the beach. perhaps tomorrow. i have many fun activities planned for the upcoming weeks - scooter rental in stanley park? heck yes.

double cross!

i find it fascinating that every week of my life from now until June 22, 2007 is planned out. it's actually rather soothing in some way to see exactly what you'll be doing. someone says, 'will you be busy march 27th of next year?' all i need to do is say, 'hold on' and consult my schedule. 'why yes,' i might say, 'i will be in the midst of my family medicine rotation'.

it's making me totally obsessive-compulsive however. i'm totally frantic about scheduling meetings, and sync my palm about ten times a day to ensure everything is up to date. it's like knowing what my week consists of now isn't enough, but i have to now go in and break everything into days, hours, minutes. and i find myself making sure all my cups face the same way in my cupboard. either i have too much time on my hands, or really need a boyfriend. or both!

tonight is rockstar supernova and i'm totally stoked. did i mention that one of my best friends made out with butch walker? he was on the first episode of rockstar and i was all like, 'hey! my friend made out with you!' when he came on. i'm sure he didn't hear me on account of people can't hear things you yell at them through the tv, but whatever.

oh, and i meant to post this a long time ago. my most favourite blog is by a guy named brian. he lives in new york. and updates rarely, but there is enough stuff on his blog to get lost in for hours. anyways, he has a couple of videos on youtube, which are hi-lar-i-ous. they are of him and his mischevious gang of friends scaring his english friend grant. who screams like a girl. and, oddly enough has an article in the glamour on newstands now, which i happened to see while standing in line at the grocery store. how queer. anyways, watch the videos in sequence. part four is my favourite.

half an hour until rockstar. i should do some reading. yeah. (or re-watch those videos! double cross!!)
