project runway

dress meets decoPosted by Hello

stupid life network. how can you put such addicting shows like 'project runway' and 'america's next top model' on the air? you know i'm a reality tv junkie, and even more so when it involves fashion.

the best product from this week (episode 3) in my opinion was jay's chrysler building inspired party dress. the stupid flower and the retarded belt kind of take away from the overall aesthetics, but damn, the top of that dress is to die for. not exactly what you call ready-to-wear, but i think the design is definitely top notch. sometimes i get totally blown away by the creativity that some people have to offer. i suppose it's only because i have so little myself. you know, as i sit here in sweatpants and a hoodie. yessss, that's haute couture.

i left my combats at the door

tryin' out some template changes. gonna put up some links to other blogs soon...but i don't have enough time to crap around with html right now. i'll hopefully get around to changing the top five songs on the sidebar weekly - but this summer is going to be pretty brutal music wise. the 'rents don't let me download music. that'll put a damper on my horizons.

'trani' by the kings of leon is going to be the theme song for my summer. it sounds like it should have been recorded in some hot, smoke-filled mid-western studio circa '77. i love it.

dang it, i got chocolate on my pants.

i think my favorite scene in any movie ever is when 'sweet emotions' kicks in at the beginning of dazed and confused. that will also be on the soundtrack of my summer. best. summer. song. ever.

the brothers gallagher

well, new oasis album comes out this summer. those boys are too much. but i can't help but love them. for your reading pleasure, some quotes from the guys.

comments have been opened up for one and all - drop a line if the mood strikes.

yorkie is a shmorkie Posted by Hello

old is the new new

so it's moving time again. that time of the year where i throw all of my crap into industrial size garbage bags, toss it in the back of the 'ol toyota and venture cross country to bigger and better things. well, maybe not 'bigger and better' but definitely 'more humid and closer to paul martin'.

okay, so where is this going, you ask? well, i decided that i would be productive while i watched this weeks melodrama unfold on the oc. i hauled out all the cd's i could find, and decided to organize them alphabetically according to height for the trip out to o-town. i discovered things i had forgotten i even owned. i think my favorite surprises are the mix cd's that i churned out between 2000 and 2003. some of the highlights included on these gems:

captain and tennille - love will keep us together
macy grey - sexual revolution
weezer - keep fishin'
custom - beat me
jimmy eat world - sweetness
baby blue sound crew - money jane
aaliyah - we need a resolution
blink 182 - time to break up
destiny's child - nasty girl
neil diamond - forever in blue jeans

not that these songs are all stellar contributions to the music industry that will go down in history...but they seem to have captured a time in my life. listening to them again takes me back to the carefree days of summer (one of the cd's is aptly named 'jammin' summer hits 2002 - it also happens to contain alot of velvet empire). oh, and let's not go spreading it around that i love neil diamond. wait - the funny thing is i love will ferrell as neil diamond more than i love neil diamond as neil diamond. oh well.

ps- i found this random picture of thom yorke - he actually looks kinda sexy. yes, that's right. i said thom yorke looks sexy. who woulda thunk it? oh, besides lyn or ky that is. i'm sure they have secret yorkie crushes. (admit it lynnie c.... i knew you liked the edge all these years...i'm just waiting for you to own up to dr. grant now....he's a sexpot!) let's get the confessions people - who are your secret old men crushes?

4/20

wow, today is the international pot smoking day - 4/20. why do i know this, you all ask? well, i went to highschool. in honour, i think i will get the munchies.

i have a final exam in my herbal class tomorrow. it's about herbs. fun. and by fun, i mean fun like a bag o' glass. which i guess could be fun if you had protective gloves and eyewear. but let's look at this like the not fun bag o' glass.

anyways, i was sitting studying with some guys from class for a bit, and we decided that rather than memorize side effects of various herbs, we're going to make them up on the exam. for example, hawthorn may cause, "a sudden onset of mexican accent, with an extreme risk of subsequent deportation." i think that would be completely appropriate.

what else happened to me today? well, let's see. a whole barrell full of nothing! whoo. i had coffee at like 7:30 pm, so hopefully i'll get my ass in gear and study some more. alright. back to the books.....ish.....

i love a musty balsac

big pimpin' Posted by Hello

so did i fail to mention that over spring break i saw john lennon's rolls royce? yeah, it was supa fly. apparently all the tight ass brits were up in arms because he defaced a precious rolls royce. well blah to them.

i think of these random things while i'm supposed to be studying. oh, and i score 13,000 on the trampoline game, have baths, and watch that new show about dallas on tlc that is totally bitchin'. i wish i had big hair.

and i love clinton kelly. i want to kidnap him, and make him prance around me in polka dot shirts saying cute things. then we'd throw darts at pictures of stacey's head. not because we don't like her, but just because we can. then, we'll hold hands and skip together and go get tcby and get our hair did at nick's salon, while reading tabloid trash about britney and k-fed. and we'd cap it all off by talking about growing up.

and i loved this episode.

bouncy mcbouncerton

my new high score is 7770 on the game. it's all about the combos.

neener neener

okay, got this thing of janice's blog. i love music, so i'm filling it out (you can find the secret meaning of each song on janny's blog). here's my tracklisting:

1) killing in the name of - rage against the machine
2) tie: dance with me - 112; this is for my people - missy elliot
3) beat your heart out - the distillers
4) if you tolerate this - manic street preachers
5) starry eyed surprise - paul oakenfold
6) lady venom - swollen members
7) islands in the stream - kenny rogers and dolly parton
8) 2 become 1 - spice girls
9) warning - incubus
10) closet - pete yorn
11) who wouldn't want to be me - keith urban
12) theme - pulp fiction
13) baby when you're gone - bryan adams and mel c
14) hey mister - custom
15) somebody told me - the killers
16) lose you - pete yorn
17) break stuff - limp bizkit
18) rasputin - bony m (a true super group in my mind)
19) take it easy - the eagles
20) island of the honest man - hot hot heat

okay, this list took me like 30 years to make, on account of i'd put a song down, then pick one i thought fit better. if it were up to me, i'd have four answers for every song. but we all know that would be excessive. and i'm never over the top.

sucka

if i'm not working, then none of you are ever going to work again either. bastards.

*insert title here*

i talked to summer crush on msn tuesday night. i got so excited i couldn't fall asleep. i can't wait for summer and his bear hugs. and his cuteness. and his dorkiness. yay! i love boys.

4.12.2005

elevator

first spin: hot hot heat, elevator.

so far, sounds like the boys have done it again. if only they weren't in town this friday! damn you finals, and damn myself for having the self restraint to study instead of go drool over steve bayes. i love their crazy lyrics and nutso music. however, the cover art slightly reminds me of the n*sync 'no strings attached' record...but i won't hold it against you guys...i mean, that record was huge for n*sync.

the campus radio station, cjus finally picked one of my top fives that i submitted. go and ch-ch-check it out.

my life isn't that exciting, on account of it's finals now. finals means no fun stories. finals means sweatpants 24/7. finals means i hate school. but finals also mean summer is just around the corner!! wut wuuut.

4.09.2005

it's not a hat

so i saw charles and camilla tie the knot this morning. i just watched to try and sneak a peek at harry and william. oh, the hotness that is harry and william. hold on, i have to go pick my jaw up off the floor. ahh, done and done.

so what was with that porcupine/wheat sheaf on camilla's head? i have a feeling the royal 'sylist' will be getting a royal 'kick in the ass' about that one. talk about a brain fart. and the commentator kept calling it a hat. that is not a hat. calling that a hat is insulting every proper hat ever made. even those helmets that hold two cans of beer with those long straws are more of a hat than that thingy. ouch. talk about brutal wedding photos. no wonder the queen never wants to be photographed with them.

and another thing. do you think elizabeth gets embarassed when people have to sing 'God save the queen' around her? or do you think she sings along? i suppose that these would have been issues she would have addressed already, but i wonder. if i was her i think i'd sing along and be quite proud of myself. kinda like if i had three kidneys.

4.08.2005

twenty days

first final tomorrow morning. i just want to get this one out of the way so i can hunker down and study for the other five i have coming up. this is such a piece of crap class. i don't know why they make us write a final anyways. it licks my butt crack.

so i'm learning new things everyday. did you know when people get kidney transplants they usually leave the old kidneys in and put the new one behind your abdominal wall? if i had a kidney transplant, i'd run around all day yelling how great i am because i have three kidneys. i'd be all like, "my body can handle anything - i have three kidneys". me and my kidneys would be so awesome. i think i'll invent a comic book where all the super heroes have weird medical powers, like "filtration boy" who has three kidneys, and maybe "regular boy" who eats lots of fibre. you know, as in he's regular. hey - that's a special power alot of people wish they had.

so the summer countdown is at twenty days. i'm dreaming of the pub by my house, and the gloriousness of long island iced teas within walking distance. mmm mmm mmm. vodkalicious. i am also dreaming of not having to think for awhile. my brain is like putty after this past year...putty that has been smushed and rolled into a long snake, then pulled really thin like an earthworm. then smushed into a ball again and flattened, and had a palm print put into it.

i looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove love love studying on a friday night.

4.06.2005

elephant steps

i think summer is finally falling into place. unfortunately, all these thoughts of b-b-q's, patio lanterns and summer nights are making it really hard to focus on school work. the countdown is on: 22 days.

the concert series for this year's tulip festival has just been announced. and frankly, i'm totally bummed. usually there are two or three stellar acts that i'm eager to see. this year, i'm mildly interested in projet orange (but totally afraid they'll sing in french most of the time) and the tea party, but fairly excited for boy and hawksley workman. last year hawskley put on a kick-knickers show stomping around crazily on stage like some weird elephant-boy. i wish they could have drummed up hot hot heat or sam roberts this year...but whatever. did i mention the killers are playing montreal and i want to sell my kidneys to go? back to ottawa. i'm actually pretty stoked for boy - they're my retro-sounding band crush of the year so far. and i love boys who look like they don't shower, and sound like they're from the 60's and british. who am i kidding? i have a crush on every boy.

well, time for bed. long day of classes and "studying" tomorrow. and by that i mean the oc is on tomorrow night. yay! seth cohen!

p.s. - this is what part of the alphabet would look like if q and r were eliminated. (funny quote from mitch hedberg. check his stuff out: very jack handy-esque)

4.05.2005

tuesday procrastination

so the american version of the office was on tonight. i've tried to watch the original a couple of times, but haven't gotten into it. the american one is pretty funny though.

case and point:

"i can raise and lower my cholesterol with my mind"

"but why would you want to raise your cholesterol?"

"so i can lower it"

so awesome.

4.04.2005

jar jar bonks. yes, that's bonks. buttmunch.

went to see sin city last night - good show, but the violence became a little much by the end. you can only watch so many people get cut to bits in the span of two hours. clive owen has never looked more awesome. rawrr. and let's address that 500lb elephant in the room: jessica alba was damn hot too.

so the new bachelor started tonight. i didn't watch, on account of a 'growing up gotti' marathon on A&E...but apparently charlie o'connell (a.k.a. the fat kid from 'stand by me' 's brother) is the new man on the search for love. is it just me, or is he less ugly than he used to be? maybe i'm just less cynical in my old age.

first final is less than one week away. if i manage to live through these next 24 days, i plan to buy myself something big. that is, after i recover from the night of the 28th. we'll be doin' it way big.

most awesomest songs of the day:

lyla - oasis *this just in - the gallagher brothers put down their dukes and the guiness long enough to record a new album*
y-division - the yeah yeah yeahs *yes...i have nothing to say about this song. but it rawks*
deceptacon - le tigre *i think that's french for something*

it's just another manic sunday

for some reason, i have a strange feeling most of the people that read this blog will love this.

enjoy.

you could be a rockstar with those glasses

got the new sunglasses today as planned. i'm gonna take over the world.

4.02.2005

oh sunny day

i discovered as i walked out of my apartment today, that i love my shoes. not only for the 'style' aspect that they bring, but shoes are really practical. i mean, they protect your feet from puddles, rocks, used needles, snow, poop and other things. if we didn't have shoes, i'm sure we'd all have hepatitis.

i was then driving back from the library and saw someone snowblowing their lawn. the thing is, they were just blowing this pile of snow that was in the shade onto the part of their lawn that was sunny. dude. it's like plus ten outside, give it two days and it will be melted. what a crazy! "honey, can you go outside and make sure all the snow on the front lawn has melted?"

did you know you can change fonts on here? i just found out. suh-weet.

4.01.2005

the whole detached-irony thing is very 1999

i have decided to consider taking time off after graduation to become eurotrash. you know, buy a plane ticket and become lost in a pool of absolut vodka, tall italian men, and well-made shoes. who needs reality when you can have a metro pass and sidewalk cafes.

i think that the song 'maps' by the yeah yeah yeahs is the single saddest song i've ever heard. it makes my body hurt from the inside in a way that a three legged puppy makes me hurt from the inside. that one meatloaf song was kinda sad too, but not this sad. i think i mostly felt bad for meatloaf because he's a gross old man who most likely can't get laid. he'd do anything for love...but no one will do that.

i've decided that i love robbie williams circa the 'millenium' video. he's so classicly good looking. ya know, in a bad boy kinda way that makes me want to disobey my parents and smoke cigarettes.

i have no sane train of thought tonight. i'm thinking about the sunglasses i'm going to buy tomorrow, the pile of laundry on my floor that has been there for a week, and this picture that came up on google image search which has nothing to do with anything. me likey.

me also likey death cab for cutie, the donnas, and architects and guitars.
