oh, the first big snow of winter. always good for leading to the 'no rules driving jamberoo' (which - obviously - is not to be confused with the 'awkward laugh jamberoo').

anyways, it always seems like after the first snowfall, everybody in the world has to remember all over again what it's like to drive in snow. like they haven't been doing it every year, for five months of the year, for the past fifty-million years.

two-lane streets turn into one-and-a-half lane streets. parking lots are a free for all. and red lights? hell - if you're within half a block, they're fair game! why stop when nobody else can start driving for thirty seconds after the green because of all the ice!

my favourite part of the first snow is the winter-tire exchange. the white stuff hits, and gone are the days of nice rims, and out come the factory standard hubcaps and blizzaks*. i love lugging heavy tires around. not. i hate changing seasons, because i hate carrying the stupid bastards around. when i grow up, i'm going to buy a car without wheels**, so i don't have to worry about putting winter tires on.

*please note. i do not actually know if my snow tires are indeed blizzaks. i am by no means affiliated with blizzaks, nor endorse them in any way.
**i have to say that i am impressed by my own ability to cleverly link to that statement. i was going to link to this...but this is much better.

  • Those really were the best links ever. Ah wheels. So good. I'm totally dumb though. When the link was loading, I saw that it said "degrassi" in it and I TOTALLY didn't clue in. I thought to myself "Did they have a hover craft or something on Degrassi once?".
