the white stripes are playing at my house

so, it's been forty years since my last post! i can't say that my life hasn't been interesting, and thus my lack of posts. in fact, it has been the opposite! well, maybe not interesting per se...but at least busy. i've been travelling with work (and some pleasure) and am back at home for a few days. just enough time to wash my underpants and set off for over a month of holidays.

that's right mes amis - HOLIDAYS!

which means one thing.

i'm finished with the dreaded residency! done and done. finis. the end. it is no more. technically the project from hell is still requiring some work, and i have to update my learning portfolio (if you were to view it now, it would appear as though i haven't learned anything since january...yipes) but for all intensive purposes, i'm finished.

to celebrate - just for ky - i'm dancing to 'umbrella'. (ella ella eh eh eh) and she may deny it vehemently, but she loves that song. if you see ky ever, play that song for her. she'll be so happy. and remember: don't let her try to tell you she doesn't like it. she's just frontin'. she also loves wedgies.

turning this conversation right around, i'd like to inform everyone that the new white stripes is awesome. awesome. it's just the right amount of weird and pop that makes me happy. this one song 'conquest' is great. it sounds like a 40's western.

and in other news, i made nigella lawson's chocolate gingerbread this afternoon. it is so good. i'm sitting here smelling it, and trying to deter myself from going over to the scalding hot fresh-out-of-the-oven pan and shoving the whole tray in my mouth. the major deterrent thus far is that i haven't iced it yet. once that icing is on, let me tell you: it's fair game.

i was going to go on a tirade about garage sales right now, but the thought of it is making me angry. so i'm going to go pour myself a diet pepsi and see if the dessert has cooled off enough so as i won't give myself third degree burns while trying to inhale it.
